Everything on this portal was produced through European projects — and all of it is free. This page shows what we built, what is live and in use today, what is still an open draft you can help finish, and how to use it yourself.
Two things, kept deliberately distinct. The microgreens methodology is what this portal documents: one hands-on learning methodology, running since 2025, that works for any vocation and any age. EVEC Athens — the European Voluntary and Educational Center (legal name EVROPAIKO ETHELONTIKO KAI EKPAIDEFTIKO KENTRO) — is the non-governmental organisation behind the methodology, based in Athens, Greece, working in youth, volunteering and education through European projects since 2017.
The methodology was born inside EVEC’s European Solidarity Corps project 2024-1-EL02-ESC51-VTJ-000225260 — “Stay Healthy, Beautiful and Young — Detox with Microgreens” — and is built and run by a team of international volunteers. It has been running since 2025, and this portal has been live since August 2025. What started as a way to grow food in a city with very little space became something larger: an education programme, a startup hub, and this open knowledge portal.
Read more about the people behind the methodology, or meet the organisation itself — who EVEC Athens are and everything else they do — at evec.org.gr.
A European project result is only worth something if people can actually find it and use it after the project ends. Too many end up as a PDF nobody opens. Ours are published here, kept alive, and free for anyone — teachers, growers, youth workers, other organisations — to use and adapt. And so that you always know exactly what you are looking at, we label everything in two tiers: results that are live and in daily use, and open drafts you can help finish.
Nothing in this tier is a plan or a promise. Every item below exists now, is in use now, and is one click away — open it and check.
Status: live — 110+ open articles
Growing guides, business material and practical how-tos — over a hundred free articles, published openly and added to as the methodology grows.
Status: live — 29 crop guides
One practical guide per crop, from sowing to harvest, written from our own growing practice.
Status: live — 20 plain-language research rewrites
Open-access microgreens research, rewritten so that non-scientists can understand it — with full credit and a link back to every original study.
Status: live — three complete self-paced courses
Free self-paced courses on growing at home, running a microgreens business, and teaching with microgreens — all three live and complete as v1.
Status: live — tested recipes
More than 30 easy, mostly vegan-friendly recipes, developed and tested by our team and volunteers.
Status: live — in operation in Athens
A physical production space in Athens, offered free to young entrepreneurs who want to start a microgreens business without capital.
Status: live — since August 2025
The portal itself is a project result — built and maintained by volunteers, and still growing as each new volunteer and intern adds to it. It is also our answer to the sustainability question every application has to face: results published here stay findable, usable and free after the funding ends.
Status: open drafts — published for piloting, each with its own feedback form
Four practical toolkits are published as open drafts on this portal. We do not present them as finished results, because they are not: they are working documents, complete enough to use and open enough to improve.
Piloting and finalising a draft open educational resource with real learners is a legitimate, fundable project activity — which makes finishing these toolkits a ready-made work package for a consortium. Open a draft, try it with your group, and use the feedback form on its page to tell us what worked and what did not.
Every result we publish gets its own record with its status, audience and a direct link. This list updates automatically as new results are added.

These are the references as they appear in official records, so you can verify any of them; the microgreens projects and both accreditations come first. EVEC Athens, the organisation behind the methodology, is looking for partners across Europe — schools, NGOs, youth organisations, universities, research groups and social enterprises — for projects in youth work, education, green skills, youth entrepreneurship, urban food and science communication.
What we bring to a partnership — every item below is concrete and checkable on this portal:
A note on documentation: EVEC’s organisational identifiers (OID E10172681, PIC 909448430), both accreditations and the full project reference list above are the record your application form asks for — every reference is checkable in official EU records. If you are drafting an application, write to erasmus@evec.org.gr and we will also send a short partner description ready to paste into the form.
Our educational materials are free to use. If you are a teacher, youth worker or organisation and something here is useful to you, take it and use it — that is what it is for. We only ask that you credit the source, and we would genuinely like to hear what you did with it. If what you use is one of the four toolkit drafts, the feedback form on its page is the best way to tell us — piloting a draft and reporting back is the most useful contribution an outside reader can make.
