Microgreens Toolkit – High School Youth (15–19)
A 10-day project for ages 15–19: teams build a small hydroponic system with sensors, collect data and connect biology, sustainability and technology. Open draft, feedback welcome.

A structured ten-day project that connects urban agriculture, environmental awareness and practical science. Students do more than grow microgreens: working in teams, they build a small-scale hydroponic system, use sensors to measure temperature, humidity, light and water quality, and analyse how these variables affect plant growth.
The aim is not only technical skill but a deeper understanding of food systems, resource efficiency and how science supports more sustainable cities. The toolkit is designed as a digital-first resource with downloadable assembly guides, data-collection sheets and research-report frameworks, adaptable across school and youth-programme settings.
Status and feedback
This toolkit is in development and published as an open draft. Reviewing the structure and activities helps us refine the balance between sustainability, science and practical implementation. The feedback form is on the toolkit page.
