Microgreens Toolkit – Primary School Children (13–14)
A structured 10-day classroom journey from seed to harvest for learners aged 13–14, combining science, nutrition, sustainability and teamwork. Open draft, feedback welcome.

The toolkit sets out microgreens classroom activities as a structured ten-day learning journey from seed to harvest, built for primary and lower-secondary classrooms. It combines science, nutrition, environmental awareness, creativity and teamwork through short, dynamic activities: games, simple experiments and creative challenges where students learn by doing, observing, measuring and reflecting.
Each day builds on the previous one, moving through germination, plant biology, healthy-eating concepts, sustainability discussion, data collection and finally harvest and presentation. It is designed to be ready to use, with illustrated step-by-step guides, experiment journals, printable activity sheets and facilitator notes.
Teachers usually run it alongside the 10-day growing guide for the growing steps, prepare with the free Teach with Microgreens course, and use Microgreens in schools to see how the unit maps onto biology, maths, nutrition and sustainability.
Status and feedback on these microgreens classroom activities
This toolkit is in development and published as an open draft. If you teach with it, your feedback directly shapes the final resource. The feedback form is on the toolkit page. It is published under a Creative Commons BY 4.0 licence, so you may copy, adapt and reuse it in your own classroom with attribution.
