How to use microgreens according to the seasons

Summer is ending, autumn is beginning, and with the change of season, we thought it would be the perfect time to write this article to show how microgreens can accompany us throughout the year. While they can be grown and enjoyed at any time, certain varieties and recipes work especially well in each season.

Microgreens are not only versatile in the kitchen, they also add freshness, texture, and nutrients that perfectly match what our bodies need during each time of year.

Spring: freshness and vitality

Spring is the season of rebirth, and there’s nothing better than light, refreshing microgreens.

  • Recommended varieties: radish, alfalfa, clover.
  • How to use them: in salads with fresh fruit, as a topping on avocado toast, or even in bowls with whole grains.

Their slightly spicy or mild flavor perfectly complements the lightness of this season.

Summer: freshness in every bite

In summer, we look for hydration and easy to prepare dishes without turning on the stove too much.

  • Recommended varieties: sunflower, kale, amaranth.
  • How to use them: in green smoothies, cold wraps, sandwiches, or as a finishing touch on gazpachos and chilled soups.

They add crunch and extra nutrients to refreshing summer recipes that nourish at the same time.

Autumn: intense and comforting flavors

Autumn invites us to enjoy warmer, heartier dishes. Microgreens with stronger flavors perfectly enhance these recipes.

  • Recommended varieties: mustard, broccoli, pea.
  • How to use them: add a handful of microgreens to soups, vegetable creams, or risottos. They also work great with seasonal pumpkin or mushroom dishes.

They bring a refreshing contrast to more substantial meals.

Winter: energy and immune support

In winter, it’s important to boost our immune system. Microgreens rich in vitamins and antioxidants are perfect allies.

  • Recommended varieties: cilantro, parsley, red cabbage.
  • How to use them: in stews, casseroles, omelets, or as a topping on hot dishes just before serving.

They add an extra touch of color and vitality to the colder months…

As you can see, microgreens not only adapt to your daily cooking, but they can also accompany you throughout the seasons, giving you exactly what you need at each moment: freshness in spring, lightness in summer, intensity in autumn, and immune support in winter.

Cheers, friends, see you next time!
